When did Television become universal?

Lita Thammorongsa: It was invented in the USA for public use about 1939/1940 but no one but the very rich could afford one and it was very rare. Then came WWII era 1940-1946 and television was put aside and forgotten. It came back to the US public starting about 1950, this time much cheaper, improved and massed produced. By 1955 most people had one by 1959 everyone did....so the 1950's in the USA. In 1965 TV went to color and by 1975 everyone had color sets.

Raymon Fiene: It actually never did.At least three different systems are in use which are incompatible one with the other. One is the NTSC system used in North America; another is the PAL system used in portions of Europe.

Mickey Isle: In the 1950's the rest of the world was in ruins from WW 2. So mostly they couldn't afford TV's.... but the TV was released to the world when it was released to the US population.

Norine Lomonte: SmartAz, I may not have chosen the best words to ask my question, but I'! m sure that you understand that question generally. If you can't help me with the question, don't answer.

Doreatha Kjellsen: Your words make no sense. "Released" does not apply. "Universal" does not apply. "Officially released" implies that some body had authority to withhold the concept. That is not so. 2. "Universal" implies that all people everywhere used the same sort of system. That is not so.3. "When" implies that there was a definite time. That is not so.Television was invented about 1923 and the first commercial broadcasts began in 1928. Developments increased after WW2 and continued on no particular schedule up to the present....Show more
